All By Myself

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

Last night, I went on a date with myself. Scott got home at 7:45 (the earliest in a long while), and I grabbed the keys and said "peace out." I think I literally said "peace out."

I went to City Creek, and after I parked, I pulled out the baby stroller. Set it up and put my purse in the basket and opened the back door to pull Georgia out of her car seat. Which, of course, was empty as I had no baby with me. Habit.

I went up and down escalators. Once, I took the stairs just because I could.
I bought myself a shirt on clearance. I gave a dollar to a man holding a sign that said: "Instant Karma: $1.00"

I walked around the grocery store. Just walked around it and looked. Because I could. I got a US magazine and a box of M&M's.

I went to the cheap theatre and said the words: "Just one for The Lucky One" and I sat in the darkness BY MYSELF and watched a movie I would have never been able to drag Scott too. I don't know if I liked the movie because it was better than The Last Song,* because it had Zac Efron in it or because I could just sit and watch the chickiest of all flicks with no snickers from anyone.

Either way, I got home at midnight. I had a wonderful time with myself. I hope I call me again.

*The Last Song is possibly one of the worst movies of all time, and I was expecting The Lucky One to be the same and was kind of surprised that it was only kind of bad.

  1. Oh my goodness. Sign me up for a date like that. Honestly, even when I go to the grocery store by myself I feel 50 pounds lighter and kind of like I'm living on the wild side.

  2. I LOVE times like this! It's the mark of a confident and strong woman to have a night like that.

Jacob's driving my sister to SLC and back tonight, so my night is similarly singular tonight. But I'll probably spend it cleaning out the closet and making new curtains.

I like to hear all of the beautiful things you have to say.
