Creepy Pregnancy Countdown Things

Friday, January 7, 2011

Okay, so you've all seen 'em. Creepy virtual alien babies "floating" in a pregnancy countdown widget on the side of an expecting mom's blog. Or a cartoon baby moving along week by week across a garden of flowers, slowly getting bigger and referring to itself ecstatically proclaiming: "I am learning to pee this week and am 1 ounce! Can't wait to meet mommy!"

I don't know why I'm so weirdly against having one of these. I searched to see if there was a funny one (an ACTUALLY funny one- not one that just says it's funny) but haven't been able to find one I would put up here seriously.

I did however, find this interactive gem. Enjoy ;)

  1. can TICKLE it?! carrie! where did you find such a thing?!

  2. ya, i thought they were super weird too. but you are just so excited, the excitement takes over and you find out your baby has fingers that week and its so darn exciting you cant stand it! I will say though that I loved the daily or weekly updates I got from they were super interesting and I still get them. after you have your sweet little kiddo they talk about your babies development and new skills that they will be learning. I love it!

  3. I would agree with the above comment, sign up for the weekly emails from babycenter! Loved them!

  4. SCARY SCARY SCARY!!! I don't ever want to tickle a fetus again!

  5. I should clarify that when I said "gem" I meant it sarcastically ;)
Because yes, Brandilyn. You can freakin tickle it haha!

And yes, I get my updates from baby center and I love it. I had to get fingerprinted for my background check for my internship and all I could think about was how my bug has fingerprints too

  6. HAHAHAHA! This one is the weirdest I've ever seen! I had one, but it didn't involve any creepy fetus pictures. It was kinda cute with a silhouette of a pregnant mom and just the words "56 days left" or something like that.

  7. The creepy tickle giggle is just too much. Also, 182 days? That doesn't even sound hopeful to me. It sounds more like mocking. Stupid pregnancy countdowns...
    We miss you:)

  8. This is so exciting! I am so happy for you!!!

I like to hear all of the beautiful things you have to say.
