That Was Pretty R.A.D.

I was finally able to check off a long-time life goal of mine over the past three weeks! I took a self-defense class and had more fun than I thought I would have.

I took a Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) class and was really nervous when I first started. I had never in my life punched anything as hard I could. I have never had to defend myself or anyone I love. When we started the class, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do the things I needed to, but I was wrong.

Today, we took our "final" where we were attacked by three grown men. Luckily, they were all instructors and were heavily padded. But when I was attacked I got the biggest adrenaline rush ever and was able to not only defend myself, but get away!

Today, I feel totally empowered! I'm obviously not going to go looking for trouble, but you never really know what's going to happen- sometimes you're simply not in control of what happens to you. This should never be the case, but if it is, women should be able to have the tools to defend themselves. This is what R.A.D. gives you! "Viable options" of how to escape an attack.

I don't feel paranoid, I don't feel anxious, I only feel prepared and calm.

  1. You go girl. This likewise has been a goal of mine. PS Jacob and I are reading aloud and throughly enjoying Travels with Charley, thanks to you and Senor Scott for the recommendation.
